Sequatchie Valley
Sequatchie Valley in southeast Tennessee is one of the most scenic valleys in the southeastern U.S. It takes in part of Bledsoe, Sequatchie and Marion Counties and is bordered by Signal mountain and Hamilton County on the east and the Cumberland Plateau and Grundy and VanBuren Counties on the west. Panoramic views are available from the surrounding mountains.
The valley was named for the Cherokee Indian Chief, Sequachee, who entered into a treaty with the colonial government of South Carolina. When you visit the beautiful Sequatchie Valley, be sure to see the historic Coke Oven Park where coal was turned into coke on Fredonia Mountain and visit the Dunlap Coke Ovens Museum.
